Arsene Wenger Talks About New Signing, Condemns Journalists

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger has been widely criticized for failing to sign world class players despite a host of injury troubling the team. The club has signed just Granit Xhaka, Takuma Asano and Rob Holding and failed to bring top players like Lacazette, Draxler, Vardy, Higuain, Mustafi, Rodriguez and Mahrez to the Emirates stadium.
Speaking about the transfer targets Wenger noted:
“Yes we are close. But I would say spending in itself is not a quality. Spending and buying the right players is a quality. I am a bit fed up to always respond to the same things. We look and analyse absolutely everything and we have to make the right decisions.”
Wenger continued to praise new defender Rob Holding for a wonderful performance in central defence which helped Arsenal keep a clean sheet against Leicester. He said:
“Nobody speaks about the performance of Rob Holding today – he is English, he is 20 years old, you should be happy. But I am sorry he didn’t cost £55m so it cannot be good”.
“That is, for me, what is most disappointing – we don’t speak about the performances of the players anymore. We just speak about anything else but football and I believe it is not right.”
