A 36-year-old man in Mgbaleze Isu community, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Chijioke Ani was at the weekend found dangling from a tree branch in his farm in the area.
His wife, Ngozi, was also found dead in her pool of blood with marks of violence all over her body, raising suspicion that the husband may have killed her and then committed suicide.
A resident of the area, Sylvanus Ani said the couple was seen last on their way to the farm.
He said: “Both of them went to the farm and did not return home and we were disturbed. So we informed villagers that helped and mobilized
themselves and went in search of them and finally found the wife, Ngozi Chijioke lying dead in a pool of blood with marks of violence all over her body while Chijioke Ani was found hanging from a tree.
“The tragedies threw the entire community into shock and mourning
because this type of thing never has never happened in our area.
“We are worried and we have reported the matter to the police who
said they have commenced investigation. No one knows what happened to the couple.”
