Temidou Jephther, a 20 year old man has been arrested by the police in Bayelsa state for allegedly sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl to death. Jephther, a resident of Akedei community, a riverine suburb in Sagbama Local Government Area of the state, was alleged to have had carnal knowledge of the minor, Queen Kaiser, which resulted in her death.
Though details of the sad development are still sketchy, it was learnt that the corpse of the deceased minor had already been deposited at the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa for autopsy.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, Mr. Asinim Butswat, confirmed the incident. Butswat said the police arrested the suspect (Jephther) on August 9, 2016 and was being detained at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Yenagoa.
