Jose Fernandez, the Major League Baseball star with Miami Marlins ,died on Saturday night , months before he was set to become a father.
The 24-year-old died along with two others after a his boat crashed against rocks off the coast of Miami Beach. Five days before his death,he posted a picture of his pregnant girlfriend Carla Mendoza on Instagram and captioned it
"I'm so glad you came into my life. I'm ready for where this journey is gonna take us together."
Cuban-born Fernandez is a two-time All-Star, meaning he was voted as one of the league's best players in both 2013 and 2016. He was the best young pitcher in Major League Baseball.
His social media has been flooded with condolence messages as many mourn his death and the fact he won't see his unborn child whom he so looked forward to.
