Instagram has launched a new feature designed to stop trolls posting nasty comments on your photos. The Facebook-owned company today launched a "keyword moderation tool" that automatically blocks comments that contain certain keywords. You can either create your own list words that you consider offensive or inappropriate, or use default words provided by Instagram.
Once the tool is enabled, any comments that are posted on your photos containing these words will be invisible to you. The offending comments will only appear to the commenter and the commenter's followers, and will be hidden from everyone else.
"The beauty of the Instagram community is the diversity of its members," said Kevin Systrom, chief executive and co-founder of Instagram, in a blog post.
"All different types of people - from diverse backgrounds, races, genders, sexual orientations, abilities and more - call Instagram home, but sometimes the comments on their posts can be unkind, he noted.
