McNair Own Goal Gives Guardiola Winning Start

Manchester City gave new manager Pep Guardiola a winning start to his Premier League career with a 2-1 victory over Sunderland at the Etihad Stadium.

The hosts made the perfect start to the game with Sergio Aguero opening the scoring from the penalty spot after just five minutes after Patrick van Aanholt had brought down Raheem Sterling.
City dominated large parts of the game but lacked a cutting edge and were made to pay on 71 minutes when Defoe picked up Jack Rodwell’s pass and finished clinically past Willy Caballero.

However, the hosts were not to be denied, Jesus Navas' cross flicked off Kelechi Iheanacho before hitting Paddy McNair and deflecting past Mannone in the dying minutes.
